Justin David Blankenship

Singer/songwriter Justin David Blankenship was born and raised just south of Houston, Tx. Having grown up in a Christian home, he started playing worship music soon after learning his first instrument. His writing has always reflected Christian beliefs, but many of his songs are a poetic expression of his learning process spiritually. A move with his family to Southwest Va in 2017, led David to fall in love with the Appalachian Folk influences in the area, hence incorporating that style in his own music. His sound is a product of an appreciation for a wide variety of music but typically falling back to his folk roots. His major influences ranging from the acoustics of Fleet Foxes and José González, to the unique vocals and melody lines of Novo Amor and Yoke Lore. David’s sound is a battle between hopeful melodies and soft, wistful lyrics, but never to a dead end, clinging to a way, the one way, to point toward something greater than what is seen physically. His mellow contemplation, paired with the realization found soon after, has birthed a solemn melancholic, but hopeful tone appealing to both folk and indie lovers.
