About Jonny Gold Music

Hailing from the dusty, semi-urban flatlands of San Antonio Texas, Jonny Gold grew up on James Taylor, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan, rebelled in their teens with punk, post-rock, and post-hardcore sweetness, and has spent a career trying to find a bridge between it all. Jonny’s music is sweet and melodic, reminiscent of the best of the best singer-songwriters, yet passionate and electric as all their indie rock gods. The sad cowpolk grew up as a bisexual, non-binary person in a hyper-conservative Christian circle which will be deeply explored in his debut album “The Fever”.

Jonny finds poetry in the authentic and raw feelings of life and enjoys finding beautiful ways to lyrically expose them as awkward, hard, or painful as that pursuit gets at times.

Alongside carefully crafted lyrics, powerful music and arrangements, Jonny’s vocals have been lauded by many as one of the most unique and powerful voices they’ve ever heard. Jonny’s voice was created with a specific recipe of practice, hot tea, cigarettes, Glen Hansard records, and screaming at the top of his lungs for hours on end.

Jonny’s career has taken them to highs and lows, dive bars and yacht clubs; they have performed for dozens as well as thousands alongside many national and locals acts including Parachute, Penny & Sparrow, Kris Allen.
