Sometimes I Swear

Sometimes I Swear is an all original four piece Pop/Punk band from the Baton Rouge area of Louisiana. We are actively looking for bands around New Orleans and Baton Rouge to get on shows with.

Formed in May of 2015, Sometimes I Swear was originally just going to be a jam session. Micah Yllander got in touch with old friend, Kevin Abshire to hang out and play some tunes together. Some riffs were written, and some fun was had. Within a few weeks, Kevin invited another old jam buddy by the name of Derek "Dick" Johnson to come to these jam sessions. Several riffs were written which quickly had lyrics added to them and before long the three of them were writing song after song as well as restoring a few song from an older band. Within a few months time the three of them made the decision to form a band and begin looking for a Bassist to finish out the roster. This was going to be the hard part. The easy part was coming up with a name for the band. And so, "The Reckless Fall" was born. That shitty name lasted about 2 weeks before getting squashed by Micah's very large almost boat like shoe and "Sometimes I Swear" was born. We kept this name if that part wasn't obvious.

So, the very real struggle of finding a bassist began. We had a lot of guys of jam with us, we had a lot of guys not show up to come jam with us. We found a guy, but... he wasn't the guy. Then finally in February of 2018, Kevin invites a friend of a friend, Trey Newsom to come jam/tryout. It was a total shit show and Micah, Kevin, and Dick were supremely disappointed but at least he showed up and had a good attitude.

Most of the last paragraph was a joke. The previously mentioned "audition" was great. So great in fact that the three assholes that thought the last paragraph was funny, immediately asked Trey to be the fourth and final "for now" member of Sometimes I Swear. This would be a great time to mention that we are currently looking for a fifth member to play only the skin flute and only during practice, and studio time.
