About KARLOU
A blissed-out indie pop world is where you’ll find KARLOU, weaving pop
melodies of ripening into adulthood and the highs and lows of everyday life.
Originally from North Queensland, KARLOU’s musical journey really started
to glow once she landed in the Sunshine Coast in 2019 and started writing
songs in her bedroom. Artists like MAY-A, Girl in Red and Ruel were all early
influences as her own distinct style started to take shape.
Swiftly evolving from that safe space, to performing live and unleashing her
energetic charisma on stage. Expelling notions of memorable hooks and
dynamic grooves, she has gone on to support the likes of The Rubens,
Sycco, Hope D and most recently Mia Wray.
For 2022, KARLOU made a splash on the scene with the release of her
previous single, ‘Bitter’ which premiered on Triple J Unearthed and got on
Spotify Editorial Playlists: Fresh Finds and AU/NZ Pop Fresh Finds. It
clocked over 30,000 streams on Spotify within the first month of release and
since then, doubled. Following that came, ‘7 Years’, which landed its way onto
the Apple Music Playlist: New in Pop and got spun on 'Home and Hosed'
on Triple J. Through getting accepted into the Women In Music Program
through AIR, KARLOU has been working alongside Rachel Whitford (27
Music/Teenage Joans).
Fresh from playing packed out sets at The Woodford Folk Festival,
KARLOU will grace the stage at this year’s Groovin The Moo on the
Sunshine Coast with plans to release new music in the next few months.
