Tucker Riggleman & The Cheap Dates is a trio of Appalachian musicians making rock and roll music. Devoted practitioners of the musical anti-heroes from their youth, The Cheap Dates belong to the church of Paul Westerberg, Jason Molina, and so many others who proudly grew up with a plastic spoon in their mouth and lived to sing about it. The worlds that Riggleman’s songs inhabit are familiar, yet complicated. This music is a war cry for the heart strong and creative kids who grew up in the hollers and factory towns. Shaped by their surroundings and executed with all the power of veteran punk rockers taking up residency at the honky-tonk, this music is real — informed but uniquely its own.
