About Hero And The Horror

Hailing from one of the country’s most prominent heavy rock and metalcore capitals, Massachusetts, are new heavy rock heavyweights Hero and The Horror. The band began as guitarist Ray Pronovost (Formerly of Farewell Radiance, Calyx Into Ruin, SimpLe) and bassist John “Slo” Maggard (Long time former bassist of Unearth) envisioned a project not held down by the parameters of any one sub genre of heavy music, but instead a project that took all influences and applied them to a rock format. Quickly the two joined up with visionaries Phil Bonk (formerly of All My Sins, Once Beloved), Sam Gaulin (formerly of Man of Velocity) and started pounding out ideas and sounds that would lay the foundation of the band. After spending much of 2016-2017 honing their sound, the search was on for the right vocalist. Enter Sam Gaulin’s long time friend and professional cover vocalist, Dean Dewey.

“I remember the first jam clearly,” commented bassist John Maggard, “the guy just grabbed the mic and started jamming with us, but he was singing, singing… not screaming. In over 20 years I have never seen a heavy vocalist do this. I was blown away with what came out Day 1 and I am still impressed with each and every jam.”

Within a few months, Hero and The Horror found their identity and began playing shows. All over MA and CT. As their work keeps piling up, and more and more shows are played, the band has a vision of pressing forward and capitalizing on any opportunities that come their way.

Recently the band released their first single “Note to Self” and has garnered much acclaim from their peers. As well as “Alpha” released December 2018.

Hero and The Horror is available via Spotify, Apple Music, Itunes, Amazon Music, Google Music, Pandora, Napster, Facebook, Instagram, Bandcamp.com and Tidal.
