Spearheaded by Julia McDougall, long-time member of both the Vancouver and Saskatchewan folk scenes (previously produced by Polaris prize nominee Andy Shauf), Yawn is an electro dream-pop project that aims to capture the stasis of our lives caught between technology and the natural world. Julia grew up in Saskatchewan (treaty 6) and came out west to earn a
Composition Degree from Simon Fraser University. Post-degree, McDougall pursued her career living and performing in Berlin. Yawn attended the Banff International Songwriting residency and in October 2021 released their single, “Wasting Time” which was notably featured by LA’s popular music blog “mxdwn.” Yawn attended last year’s Pop Montreal, Vancouver Mural Festival and will be playing this year’s Sled Island festival.
