About Lo Rays
Glasgow-based Lo Rays makes modern electro-rock. They describe themselves as “post-apocalyptic pop”, as their music ranges from heavy breakdowns to haunting beats, and is accompanied by futuristic visuals.
In 2023 Lo Rays released a self-produced concept EP Algorithm Gods that is set in a future dystopia, supported by Creative Scotland. The EP was featured in the Scottish Daily Mail and Scotland on Sunday, and received radioplay on Alyx Holcombe’s BBC Introducing Rock on Radio 1, BBC Introducing Scotland and BBC Radio Rapal. Lo Rays ended 2023 on a high supporting VUKOVI on their sold-out headline shows at the Cathouse. Earlier in the year Lo Rays played a sold-out headline show at Glasgow’s Hug and Pint, their first festival slot at Bute Fest and a live session on BBC Introducing Scotland.
Finnish songwriter Laura Takala formed Lo Rays in 2018 after moving to Glasgow. She met Scott Bathgate (guitar), Ryan Jones (bass) and Murray Bartle (drums) in the Scottish music scene.
