From the sun-kissed shores of Lombok to the buzzing streets of Bali, JOESAi started out as a teen with a dream and a voice to remember. In 1997, the iconic Apache Reggae Bar in Bali threw open its doors, giving Joe his first chance to shine. Covering reggae classics from UB40 to Big Mountain and paying heartfelt tribute to the legendary Bob Marley, Joe wasn’t just performing, he was living the spirit of reggae. Creating anthems like Once Upon a Time in Gili Trawangan that became a beloved soundtrack for travelers worldwide.

After some years in Jakarta, he returned to his roots, to the tropical island of Gili Trawangan, he became the soul of the legendary Sama Sama Reggae Bar. Surrounded by the island’s bicycles, sea turtles, and endless turquoise waters, his voice echoed across sunlit beaches and starry nights, captivating backpackers, divers, yogis, and party lovers alike. 30 years later, Joe’s journey continues across the globe. Now known as JOESAI, he’s made Zurich, Switzerland his new home base.
