Josef Windheim

Josef Windheim is a multi-instrumentalist and artist from Portland, Oregon, playing drums in The Macks and recording by himself at home. Josef released the iPhone recorded double single "What You Want / On the Wind" in October 2020 and the 4-track cassette-fired EP "Whale Man" in June 2021.

In September 2021, Josef released his second EP "When the Earth...", a blistering, fuzzed-out collection of songs recorded during the various heatwaves of 2021.

In 2022, Josef released "Rabbit" with The Macks, recorded and performed on the debut EP by Worry Wart, and released the fourth Macks' album "Dajiban." In a busy year of two tours, three releases, and playing shows as a member of four bands (The Macks, Dannie Dorko, Worry Wart, Plague Rat), Josef managed to record another EP. The five song "Tape Jam" was released 1/13/23 and exhibited a more experimental and brutally psychedelic sound. Six months later he released "Ainsworth St. / Hazy in My Memory", further expanding on his sonic palette to include piano and sampled drums.

Now in 2024 comes a collection of songs sure to surprise fans and future listeners. Josef's new full-length album "We've Entered a New Memory, My Friend" is streaming everywhere. He is performing both acoustic and fully-realized shows with support from members of The Macks in the New Memory band.
