About Tarakany

1991 - 1995
Founded by classmates back in 1991, band starts to make their first local appearances by sharing stage with local acts, such as Naive, Va-Bank, Purgen and Distemper concurrently self-releasing their debut album titled «Duty Free Songs» (1992).
In 1995, band releases their second full-length record, «Best Before ...», a classic mixture of punk 77 with Ramones style samples to create a visceral and aggressive, no-holds-barred musical statement.
1997 - 1998
Band continues to tour and record which leads into taking part in series of extreme music festivals, like «Learn To Swim» within musicians against facism and hard drugs movement, gaining supporting slots for Toy Dolls, The Stranglers and Exploited meanwhile releasing their third full-length «Stole? Drank? Go To Jail!» (1997) promptly followed by their fourth studio release titled «No Boarding» (1998) and supporting young punk/hardcore/ska newcomer-bands.
2000 – 2001
In 2000, band embarks on their first European tour with 12 shows in Switzerland along with Tagtraum, Snitch, Scally and The Monsters.
Their fifth record, «Pop Fodder» was well received by both critics and fans and highly rated by Maximum RNR, Hit List and Punk Planet.
Multi-layered songs are quickly drawing attention to the band from local TV and radio stations.
2001 was marked by the release of band’s split record with Japanese Sobut later followed by Tarakany! tour with them.
2002
Band’s sixth studio release, «Fear and Hatred», probably their most succesfull record to date, was released in early 2002 immideately earning well-deserved radio interest which futher allowed them to embark on their first nationwide tour covering 10,000 kilometers from the western to the eastern borders of Russia.
2003
Band tours Japan and re-releseses «Fear and Hatred» on Old Blood Records. Record met numerous positive opinions from international punk zines.
Tarakany! appeared in collaboration project with the legendary Marky Ramone titled «Marky Ramone & The Pinhead Army» for 3 shows in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg. New tour capturing Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova.
Band starts distributing their albums in Europe with ZCM Records/Road To Ruin Distribution. Their seventh record titled «The Freedom Street» (2003) was released for Europe on Zurich Chainsaw Massacre Records.
2004 - 2005
By early 2004 band is back to Switzerland for a few selected shows.
In 2004, Tarakany! are setting up and co-headlining an international punk festival in legendary Moscow ice hockey stadium Luzhniki along with Misfits (USA), Mean Idols (Finland) and Scream Of The Presidents (Japan).
Following the success of their «Fear and Hatred», band releases their next studio album «Rockets From Russia» with an exclusive distribution outside Russia by ZCM Records (2004) and leaves for another tour covering Russia, ex-USSR countries and Europe. Ramones drummer Marky Ramone once again teamed up with Tarakany!, this time for a 17 date European tour covering Italy, Swizerland, Holland, Denmark, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Chezh and Austria performing both Ramones classics and Tarakany’s originals.
Band performs few dates in Finland including Ilosaarirock festival sharing stage with Agnostic Front, Backyard Babies, Skatalites, Anthrax, Monster Magnet, MC 5 and other acts.
2006

Tarakany! release 2 new records: their ninth studio record titled «Masters Of The Universe», split album along with the Moscow ska/punk pioneers Distemper, which was later re-released on ANR records in Europe, embark on nationwide tour including Ukraine and Belarus and win the «Best Punk Rock Band Of The Year» RAMP award, hosted by Russian alternative music channel.

2007

Band celebrates their 15-th anniversary by putting out a second live CD/DVD titled «15 Years: Strong Teeth And Sharp Claws» followed by several anniversary appearances.

2008

Tarakany! become a supporting act for MxPx (USA) and Sex Pistols (UK) during their reunion tour show in Moscow’s Luzhniki arena.

Band releases «Unplugged Unlimited», an album consisted of the alternate versions of their own songs and an EP titlted «How Much Money Does God Have?» for free internet distribution.

2009 – 2010

Putting out their eleventh studio release «Fight To The Holes» with massive presentations (over 2000 people) in Moscow’s most spacious venue B1, and supporting NOFX (USA) at Kubana Festival (Yantar, Russia).

Music video for «What Doesn’t Kill You» (2010) was directed by Valeria Guy Germanika, Russia’s most outstanding film director.

The year was also marked by band’s tribute record that was done by two dozen of young talanted bands who recognize Tarakany!’s impact on their music.

2011

Tarakany! release another internet single titled «A Dog's Heart» for free download.

On March 6, 2011, over 2500 people gathered to mark the band’s 20 -th anniversary in Arena Moscow.

Tarakany! among some other artists, have been put on a “blacklist” of artists banned in Belarus due to the open support of political opposition resulted in cancellation of their Belarus tour.

Band is currently on tour celebrating their 20-th anniversary.
