About Thousand Thoughts
“We just want to create something meaningful,” says Thousand Thoughts vocalist Ethan Lewis. From the rumbling thunder of 2018’s debut single ‘This One’s For You’ through their swaggering self-titled EP to the cinematic stomp of last years ‘Fail Me’, the London based rockers have made sure that every track they’ve ever put their name to has a purpose.
The band originally formed in 2017 as an extension of Ethan’s college music course work, with the singer needing a band to flesh out his early tracks for live. After playing just 8 shows, the fledgling group were signed to Marshall Records. It may have been a dream come true for the young band, however last year they chose to walk away from the deal.
In their early days, Thousand Thoughts had a lot more in common with the radio friendly Alt-Rock scene but as their confidence grew and band members changed (the current lineup of Ethan, guitarist Tom Caine, guitarist Will Fox and drummer Adam Field fell into place early 2020) the band took on a more aggressive stance. “We’ve really found ourselves in recent months. We’re not the same band anymore,” Ethan continues, explaining that they were signed too early and their evolution put them at odds with their former label.
“There's a lot of bands and artists doing something with a hint of Nü-Metal. We're doing Nü-Metal with a hint of everything else,” says Will as Tom explains “it's just about creating something that we enjoy. Who gives a shit about what everyone else is doing?”
“Ultimately, we want to be proud of ourselves,” Ethan adds. “If other people are proud of us in the process, that's cool as fuck but we've got to be happy with what we're doing. We've got to find what we're doing meaningful,” he continues. “And if we find what we're doing meaningful, then other people surely will.”
