About Aboutabear, to keep them safe.

aboutabear, to keep them safe has been a studio project for James Mason over the past three years. Now the second album is coming up (Red Roads Were Paved...) it is has turned into a full band ensemble with plans for shows in 2018. James takes his roots in rock, and tinges it with hip-hop and dance. Using music as a form of protest, to bring light to the ever emerging issues of climate change.

Three years ago James was walking through some woods in upstate New York. He had really stepped out of his comfort zone, travelling through the states on his own for a month, not knowing anyone. For the first time in his life, he stopped and he listened. He heard grandmother speak. He received so much knowledge and wisdom on that journey, stepping into the great unknown. He met is tribe, He fell in love, sparking a deep connection with all that is sacred. He continued to stop and listen upon his return to the UK. Skip to 2017, He was called to be a guardian, a protector. To stand with the land, the water, the trees, the rocks and for all those without a voice. He's spent most of his music career singing without a purpose. He now uses his voice to build bridges, to unite. To share the aloha spirit. This is the birth of aboutabear, to keep them safe.
