About Colorfold

The inception of Colorfold began on a Church Mission trip to Greenville, TN in the summer of 2014. Before the facepaint was donned and the name was chosen, I wanted to be a pastor and attend Seminary after majoring in Theology. Something didn’t seem right though, as I found myself having constant panic attacks before leading small group. Later that summer, my father introduced me to songwriting and from there I became obsessed with it, writing songs every night till I collapsed from exhaustion. Music gave me an outlet to express the emotions I kept sheltered from the outside world; Music was my best kept secret. The only thing I publicly announced about music was a tweet saying that I was making an album.

After writing hundreds of songs and recording thousands of ideas, after a couple failed music projects both solo and collective, I created a new YouTube channel in secret called Colorfold in early 2017. I told nobody about it for a few months until I decided to release my first vlog on the channel: This is Colorfold. After receiving unprecedented love from it’s release, I decided to start using the channel for vlogs and eventually music in 2018.
On May 10th, 2018 I released my first Single: Nothing Will Stop Me. The song received so much more love than I anticipated and I am so grateful for all the people that helped make it happen and support it even till this day. Nothing Will Stop Me was a testament to what I had learned about music and what I was capable of since I began producing in 2012 and songwriting in 2014, as I had wrote, produced, mixed, mastered, and released the single independently, by myself. To say it differently: Colorfold was the side I never showed.

My next single, Love This Life (Da Da Da), was released on November 23rd, 2018 and employed more outside help from my father Jim Carolan, and former drummer of Seether and Breaking Benjamin, Kevin Sofferra. Differing from my previous release, quite a bit actually, I joked that my music was having a constant identity crisis, but honestly there still holds truth in that statement, especially for the artistic direction I am heading in.

God Stories is Now, God Stories is a nebulous project. Taking inspiration from some of my favorite Artists like My Chemical Romance, Crywolf, Brishop Briggs, Kendrick Lamar, Mitski, EDEN, Au/Ra, and Ed Sheeran, I plan to include something for everyone in this work, but not at the price of sacrificing a unique sound and thematic narrative approach.
