About Nadia Aguilar
Born in Mexico. She began her singing studies at the age of 18 in 2008 at the School of Music and Dance of Monterrey and joined the voice studio of Katya Santos and the coach Gerardo Gonzalez. She took part in several solo recitals in the city.
In 2012 she earned the prize in the Music Performance category of the Program to Encourage the Creation and Artistic Development (PECDA for the initials in Spanish) competition created by the National Council for Culture and the Arts (CONACULTA initials in Spanish).
She has taken private voice lessons as master classes from opera figures, such as Graciela Araya, Enrique Patrón de Rueda, Teresa Rodriguez and Lynn Channing fro the University of Regina in Canada.
Since 2010 she has taken part in three editions of the International Summer Program Artescenica in Mexico, where she has received voice lessons and other classes for the development of the opera singer, such as acting and movement, coaching and International Phonetical Alphabet from national and international figures of opera as Cristian Capocaccia, Corradina Caporello, Marioara Trifan, Katherine Ciesinski, André Dos Santos, Maureen O’Flynn, among others.
Recently she made her debut as Lauretta in the opera Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini in Saltillo, Mexico.
In 2012 Ms. Nadia Aguilar was granted a scholarship to pursue her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance in the Hartt School from the University of Hartford, where she currently studies under the tutelage of the singer Maureen O’Flynn. She’s currently a Scholar of the Gallery Choir of the church St. Patrick-St. Anthony in Hartford, CT.
