About AmyBeth Griffin
When asked about her musical influences, AmyBeth Griffin (referred to as “ABG” by friends and fans) says, “Dad liked 70’s bands and Otis Redding. Mom listened to singer-songwriters and county. My older cousins introduced me to Foreigner, Bryan Adams and Heart. I love them all! After years of listening to so many great artists, you can’t separate the sonic influences. They all meld together in your head and shape the unique artist you become.”
Griffin started writing songs as a teenager and began singing on demos and radio jingles shortly thereafter. Working with various producers, sound engineers and musicians in Texas and Tennessee gave her additional stylistic options to create her sound.
Factor in that ABG has been a worship leader in multiple Houston-Area churches over the years and it’s no surprise that her debut EP, Heaven-Bound Gypsy, blurs the lines between genres. The blues-rock project, which contains songs of hope, perseverance and introspection, has been a long time coming for the indie artist. “I’ve recorded so many songs over the years… sang so many live, but the timing was never right to release them in this manner. Now it’s time and I can’t wait to get out there with my band and share them with the public!”
AmyBeth Griffin will release Heaven-Bound Gypsy on Saturday, August 4th, with a live concert at Hard Rock Café Houston at 7:00 pm.
