Saintpeeler

Lone Star State blackened hardcore outfit Saintpeeler, combine the unrelenting aggression of Swedish D-beat hardcore punk and classic Japanese hardcore with the crushing dominance of old-school death metal. After several years of only playing shows, Saintpeeler issued their first single “Cicada’s Swarm” in August of 2021, with a couple new releases locked and loaded for later this year.

Originating from Austin, TX, the group was formed in 2017 by guitarist/vocalist Matt Thompson and bassist/vocalist Addrian Jafaritabar. Later joined by drummer Gabe Castillo in 2019, the band arrived at final form. Castillo, Jafaritabar and Thompson by this point were already Texas hardcore veterans, heavily involved with local hardcore scenes ranging from San Antonio, Corpus Christi, Laredo, and Austin for over 20 years. Influenced by early crust pioneers Anti Cimex and Totalitär, and drawing lyrical inspiration from images of Armageddon, the acrimony of living in a capitalist surveillance state and the seemingly constant downward spiral that is the condition of the world we live in, and seem to only make worse, Saintpeeler released the blistering track “Cicada’s Swarm”; a love letter to their friend Riley Gale that had passed the year before, with all proceeds from shirts and tapes going to the Riley Gale Foundation. Fast forward to spring of 2023, fresh out of the studio and prepared to sink their teeth into some touring, Saintpeeler will be supporting Creeping Death on their full U.S. headliner along with releasing a two song split with fellow Austin, TX cosmic death metal riffers Feed Your Body To The Void and a debut five song EP scheduled for summer and fall of 2023.
