FAVVKES (pronounced ‘fox’) is a Toronto based songwriter, vocalist and guitarist whose music is a captivating, passionate expression of empowerment, creativity and freedom. With influences ranging from Nirvana and Soundgarden to Joan Jett and Lady Gaga, FAVVKES puts on an energetic, edgy performance that you won’t want to miss. Her songs explore self-love, honesty, identity, and inner turmoil, drawing sounds from several decades of music to create an inclusive, unique ambiance. With her electric anthems, she pushes the limits of rock n roll, combining edgy riffs with bright, infectious melodies.

Born by the name of Erica Schiopu, FAVVKES has music in her blood. As a child, she begged her parents to let her play guitar, earning her first one at age 10. At 13, she began singing and writing her own songs, and has been doing so ever since. She learned from a private guitar teaching from whom she took lessons for eight years. She additionally took four years of private vocal lessons at a music conservatory in Montreal. Following her move to Toronto in 2014, she co-founded and co-fronted KINK, a pop-punk duo that rapidly gained a cult following online, was played on mainstream radio in Brazil, and played Vans Warped Tour that summer. They also created a foundation called Guitars for Girls, which donates gently used guitars to girls in need to empower them to pursue their musical dreams in a male-dominated industry.

Currently in studio, FAVVKES is teaming up with platinum-awarded, Juno nominated producer Thomas McKay to work on her debut EP. The lead single, Black Dove, which they co-wrote, unapologetically confronts pain and hardship to encourage its audience to find the strength to channel it into love. “It might be the most difficult thing I’ve ever done, but it’s something we all need to do in order to move on”, says FAVVKES, who wrote the song intending it to be an empowering anthem of inner strength. “There is too much hate in the world right now. We need to learn to love again.” FAVVKES’ debut single will be released this summer.
