English JOIA combines the intimacy of a singer/songwriter with the expression of theatrical art. Honest and personal, directly for you. After singing in a rock band for years, JOIA decides to bring her music back to its purest form, all excess aside. With a band that puts expression, composition and dynamics up front, she manages to get comfortably close to her audience. JOIA is inspired by Lianne La Havas, Jeff Buckley and Wende Snijders. JOIA played for the Dutch King Willem-Alexander at the opening of Rotterdam Central Station, was finalist at the Music Matters Award, appeared in the show Virus with host Giel Beelen and was Lions Club Brabants Talent. Nederlands JOIA wil het intieme van een singer/songwriter combineren met het expressieve van de Nederlandse kleinkunst. Eerlijk en persoonlijk, direct gericht aan jou. Na jaren gezongen te hebben in een rockband, besluit ze de muziek terug te brengen naar de puurste vorm, de poespas overboord. Met een band waarin expressie, arrangement en vooral dynamiek centraal staat, komt ze dicht bij de luisteraar. Denk aan Lianne La Havas, Jeff Buckley en Wende Snijders. "Ik ben opgevoed met het idee dat alle emoties er mogen zijn. Zo levendig als ik kan zijn in humor en in fijne dingen, zo kan ik mijmeren in melancholie als alles tegen zit. En dat zijn vaak de momenten dat ik mijn muziek maak." JOIA speelde eerder op de opening van CS Rotterdam voor koning Willem-Alexander, in het programma Virus op Radio 4 (met Giel Beelen) en was Lions Club Brabants Talent 2013 en finalist in de Music Matters Award.
