About The P.O.X. aka The Psychobilly Orchestra X
The P.O.X. was founded 1982 in Hannover (Germany) by the singer and guitarist Beaker Pox and the drummer Slin Pox and thus belongs to the first wave of Psychobilly Bands. In 1983 the guitarist and songwriter Carl Pox completed the final band formation. The P.O.X. was the first German Psychobilly band at all. 1984 it came to a record deal with the label Wahnsinn Records (Hamburg) and thus to the first vinyl record release of a German Psychobilly band, the mini LP It's so dark. International concerts and the next album release Voodoo Power on the Dutch KIX4U-label followed. In November 1986 the band dissolved officially after a European tour. By this time the P.O.X. reached the status of a Psychobilly cult-band which magically polarized the audience more than any other band did so far. In the following years The P.O.X. still played on the most important international Psychobilly festivals with the line up Beaker Pox, Carl Pox and Jake Pox, but in 1991 the band then finally stopped playing live. The P.O.X. mostly played without the usual double bass and replaced the upright bass through electric bass or omitted the bass completely. With the introduction of a strongly distorted Rhythm guitar The P.O.X. brought in a further style element which was still uncommon in Psychobilly 1984. Their arrangements differ from the predominantly used Blues pattern in the early Psychobilly; exemplary mentioned the Song "It's so dark", that -rather composed and arranged like New Wave or early Gothic rock in the kind of Bauhaus - is no classical "Old School"- Psychobilly. While in the today's Psychobilly an aspect of fun in the song lyrics and in the stage show stand frequently in the foreground, Psychobilly in the interpretation of the P.O.X. is the style of expression for the dark sides of humans. The shows as optical support of music and text using morbidly requisites like animal blood or genuine skeletons, in addition, also Transvestite-Elements as known from the Rocky Horror Picture Show enrich the performance. Retrospectively The P.O.X. as an early european Band of the first Psychobilly wave was considerably involved in the opening of Psychobilly for influences of other music genres. These are the historical facts. But now the P.O.X. is back again: The P.O.X. succumbs to the desire of the fans to revive in 2008, so Beaker and Carl Pox started to rehearse with fresh and experienced musicians, which were recruited in the Mannheim area. The new lineup has two important enhancements: Now the P.O.X. is performing with a very talented Bass player, Hellco Pox, who plays a sophisticated double bass. Hellco also uses a groovy E-Bass in several songs. Since this revival Beaker Pox is singing and not playing the second guitar anymore. Therefore Mad Pox joined the band as the second guitar player. Last but not least, with Borg Pox on drums the P.O.X. could convince the audience due to the extreme powerful live performances. In between 12 month the P.O.X. reached the top of the bill in Psychobilly again, playing festivals like Psychomania 2 and 3, Rock’n’Roll Hell-Festival, Oldschool Psychobilly Festival Antwerpen and last but not least co-headlining the famous international Psychobilly meeting in Pineda Spain. All this is really a furious and successful comeback for the band around the bizarre and unpredictable front man Beaker Pox, also known as the “Klaus Kinski” of Psycho Music. In 2011 the P.O.X. played the first time in Russia, where the band enjoyed a crazy audience in St. Petersburg. In the beginning of 2009 the P.O.X. put pre-productions of the new strong song material on the market for free. These killing tracks are taken from the comeback album INSANITY IS NO DISGRACE which will be released in summer 2012 on the welknown indie-label WOLVERINE RECORDS. The new album follows a strict concept designed by Beaker and Carl Pox, which describes the small border between normality and insanity. With INSANITY IS NO DISGRACE the P.O.X. are proving, that Psycho music does not automatically needs to deal with monsters and hell. It is an perfectly elaborated work about a serious subject which touches all people in today’s world. The founders of the PSYCHO-HORROR-ROCK'N'ROLL the Legendary Darkest Psychobilly Ever
