About Shay Hazan Quintet

Hazan's latest group reveals new reflections and directions in music. The band, two-horn strong and backed by the classic piano, bass, and drums powerhouse, continues to strike ripples in its near and far surroundings. Only that in Hazan's case, backing does not mean hiding. His significant bass work carries the group into the magical realm of Gnawa music of Morocco, the new wave of Hip-Hop, and the 1960's Chicago free-jazz and liberation movement. The quintet has been working together for several years now, and it continually fuels the Tel-Aviv jazz renaissance with North-African folklore music.

“First-class improvised music.” (Ken Waxman, JazzWorld)

Eyal Netzer - Saxophone
Milton Michaeli - Piano
Shay Hazan - Bass, Guembri, and composition
Haim E Peskoff - Drums
