About Josh Wright

Josh Wright makes a way where there seems to be no way. Born in Celeste, TX – a town of only 800 people – he found himself in a public school system that did not include music in the curriculum. Following the passion God had placed in his heart since birth, Josh cultivated his musical talents on his own under the mentorship of his father Richard Wright, who was a pianist and vocalist. Influenced by a broad group of artists including Brian McKnight, Justin Timberlake, Elvis, U2, CeCe Winans, and Amy Grant, Josh found his own unique vocal style and eventually began to use his gifts for God’s glory participating in several international mission trips and leading on the worship team at his home church, Highland Terrace Baptist Church. The next step in Josh’s journey led him to Belmont University in Nashville, TN, where he would spend the next few years growing as a songwriter, vocalist, and performer. As a result of his tenacious and dedicated work ethic, he managed to separate himself from the incredibly competitive pack and was featured in an incredible seven showcases while at Belmont – one writer’s showcase, three Christian Showcases, one Commercial Showcase, and two Best of the Best Showcases. After graduation, Josh took a step of faith and auditioned for American Idol, which proved to be one of the greatest experiences of his career so far. After a long journey, Josh finished in the Top 40 and returned to Nashville wiser, more determined, and with countless new mentors and friends in his corner. While others sit back and ride the wave of such success, Josh continued to make his way by writing, recording, and even filming his own music videos. Ultimately, he caught the eyes and ears of former schoolmate Brooks Parker and Jennifer Cooke of JKC Artist Group, who are now managing Josh’s career. After a year of brainstorming, writing, and cultivating his artistry, Josh is currently working on his debut EP with award-winning veteran producers/songwriters Jonathon Crone, Aaron Rice and Keith Thomas. In addition to his musical endeavors, Josh Wright also serves as president of the Jordan Casey Wright Foundation, an organization he founded to honor the memory of his younger brother who died suddenly as the result of a car accident in December 2013. With a vision to help underprivileged athletes and financially support athletic projects in his Texas hometown, Josh’s determination has resulted in over $250,000 raised to date, including a grant from the Texas Rangers major league baseball team. Although never finding much success as an athlete himself, Josh has been humbled at how God has chosen to use his talents to make an impact on the athletic community and his hometown at large. When Josh croons the chorus of his song What You Could Do With Me – “I don’t have to be the strongest, ’cause You are perfect in my weakness; If You can move a mountain with faith like a grain of mustard seed, I wonder what You could do with me” – it is a true reflection of the journey he has been walking out in faith over the last two years. After releasing this EP, Josh will continue to write and perform at churches and other venues across the country. He is excited to start reaching for his loftiest goals – acting in a Tyler Perry movie, performing at the Super Bowl, and having a song featured at the Olympics, just to name a few. Although these may seem overly ambitious to most, with his unmatched vocal ability, unforgettable songwriting, and unashamed love for the Lord, Josh Wright will continue to make a way where there seems to be no way.
