Shabudikah (SHə-bo͞o-di-kə)- 1) /n/ a high-energy, horn-driven funk party from Asheville, N.C. 2) /n/ the rhythm that started it all.
Shabudikah is an original six piece funk band from Asheville, North Carolina. Drawing upon the revivalist funk of Lettuce, jazz fusion of Chicago and soul of Al Green, Shabudikah offers a dynamic new brio to classic funk. Comprised of a talented group of multi-instrumentalists, the sextet delivers a diverse array of original compositions that highlight three part horn lines, blistering solos, and expressive vocals. Featuring Justice Mann (trombone), Jamie Berlyn (saxophones), Nate Sly (trumpet/keys), Joe Mohrmann (bass), Reid Parler (guitar) and Kevin Scott (drums/vocals) Shabudikah’s authentic brand of funk guarantees a brass-shaking good time.
