Certrell D. Russell Music

Certrell Russell is a native of Shreveport, La, who has been singing since around the age of 6. He grew up remaining active in church singing in the choir, drilling with the drill team, etc. In 2003, he relocated to Natchitoches, La to attend Northwestern State University to major in Music. While at Northwestern, he became the director of the gospel choir Lifted Voices. This opportunity led him into doing something that he not only enjoyed, but to develop a choir of discipline and with heart for worship. This leadership led him the opportunity to relocate to Dallas, TX in 2006, to pursue a career as a director.

Kurtrell Dashun united with Friendship West Baptist Church, in 2007. He now serves as one of the Praise & Worship Leaders at the church. In September of 2010, he had a desire to use his talent in other ways not with a choir, but a few voices that had a heart for worship by forming Trell & Triumph. This has opened many doors, allowing him to minister on many programs, concerts, events, etc., throughout Dallas and surrounding areas.

In 2013, God showed him that some changes needed to be made. Although he was ministering, he wanted to make sure that it was being done all for the Almighty God. Kurtrell prayed about changing the name of the group and making some changes. He was challenged to step out the box a little more and try to present more of a positive and creative sound with himself and the group. This led to the name Kurtrell Dashun & Triumph. This name phonetically spells his biological name Certrell Dashun.

Kurtrell has a desire to share the gift with others and spreading the news that Jesus lives to everyone, taking nothing for himself, but giving it all back to God.
