About Jetpack Syndrome
"Jetpack Syndrome is our name for a very deliberate reason. It illuminates the false relationship between the world of physical achievement and intrinsic happiness. We tend to believe that a certain amount of wealth, a certain occupation, or even a certain level of fitness will solve all of our deeply rooted issues, thus giving us the happiness we deserve. All of those achievements are similar in the fact that they will simply feel good to achieve temporarily, but inevitably leaving us right back where we started. We as a band tried combating this way of thinking by doing something particularly strange. We decided one day to replace the idea of 'happiness' with 'flying', to illustrate something important; the resemblance between the two ideas. These two things have very metaphorically similar sensations of pleasure, and on the other hand, are known for the illusion of being impossible to bring to fruition. Furthermore, we believe that if we hope to achieve flight, it requires something much better, and much more genuine than physical achievements. The three rings represent what we believe allows us to sprout our own wings and fly forever, never having to rely on jetpacks, such as achievements to give us the illusion of flying for only short periods of time. These three things are: selflessness, humility, and most of all, purpose. Practicing these three things in our music is very important to us, and hopefully you can benefit from it as well. Our band name, Jetpack Syndrome, in its literal sense, is a disease we obtain when we are constantly seeking out the next jetpack to make us fly, which inevitably, is short lived. Jetpacks, no matter how great, will never last forever. Wings, however, are eternal."
