About Cory M. Wells
Cory M. Wells is an alternative singer/songwriter from Charlotte, NC. Hailing from New Orleans, LA, born into a family of musicians, Cory finds himself armed with a 6 string Alvarez acoustic guitar at 15 years old, and a fiery rage to send his love of music out into the open heart. Crafting his guitar, piano and violin skills, he embarks early on a mission to write songs based on his extraordinary and challenging life, leading him into forming his first music project, a duo named Jacobs Well.
Inspired by the honest and raw storytelling of Rob Thomas , Wells finds solace and escape from broken home to grouphomes by putting life's struggle and trials into lyrics and melodies. This will later shape Well's trademark melancholic yet powerfully soaring vocal reminiscent of the great classic rock vocalists of the 80's.
At only 17, Cory enters and wins the prestigious ''Queen City Idol'' competition with ''Jacobs Well''. Consequently he forms wildly edgy rock band MANIC at 19, earning much notoriety, titles in music competitions by regional radio stations and a successful tour of the US. Wells later reconstructs and re-names the band to FALLING THROUGH APRIL, leading to label opportunities, festival appearances, support slots for established acts like Third Eye Blind, and studio sessions with renowned producers such as Rene Moore ( Rene & Angela, Jay-Z, Michael Jackson) and Mitch Easter (R.E.M.). The band remains together touring for several years before parting ways, and Cory follows up with his debut EP release of ''The New Old'' under his new project ''Subliminal Confession'', featuring a sold out EP release in Charlotte.
Staying true to his heart, in a passionate pursuit of a solo career beginning in 2016, Cory's music currently goes under the name of Cory M. Wells. In anticipation of releasing his debut solo EP, ''Out from the dark'' on May 4, Wells released his debut music video for his single ''Running Wild'', and embarks on a 20 date US tour from September 2018.
Often compared to Dallas Green and James Bay, Wells puts his own stamp on heartfelt melodic rock with vocal loops, stunning harmonies and honest stories of life's unexpected turns, family, long distance love, finding strength in loss, and turning pain into something beautiful.
