About Elijah Grae

Elijah Grae, originally from the Bay Area, has used his sharp songwriting abilities to land him credits on Jake Miller's "Tell Me You Love It" and E-40's "Red Cup" featuring T-Pain, Kid Ink and B.o.B. Grae found writing music as a way to cope with life's difficulties as he mourned the successive loss of his mother, a failed engagement and his brother being sentenced to prison.

"Music has always been a spiritual thing-it's where I go for comfort," says Grae. "That period was a whirlwind of top-out moments where I could have been like, 'F*ck this, I'm done.' But that's not my relationship with music. That's one of the things I'm most fortunate for: I just love music and don't really need the other shit. It damn near saved my life in a lot of ways.''

Grae harnessed his pain and funnelled it into his introspective, self-titled debut solo Elijah Grae EP. The Elijah Grae EP is a collection of R&B-inflected bedroom jams as breezy as the cloud of weed smoke that inspired it, takes those occurrences and coats them in a universal veneer, yielding songs that touch on broad themes. One of the songs, Touch and Geaux, is one of the EP's more upbeat, slinky highlights, speaks to the duality of the songs and how the intention behind them has more ways than one. Elsewhere, Grae kicks up the pace for "I Can't Remember," a dancefloor-targeting rumination on the night before from the vantage point of the morning after.
