Multi-Instrumentalists and songwriters, Henry Van Loon and Adrian Wolf Mann, began their musical journeys a lifetime ago in various collectives, in different roles, on different roads. They eventually crossed paths at a Chicago venue while playing in separate bands on the same ticket. To their good fortune, they discovered a bond over music, humor, and various other interests of loftier regard and/or nerdier persuasion. A fierce friendship was formed. The band that followed was fated from the start. Though Adrian and Henry came into this life through separate locales (Chicago, IL, and Detroit, MI, respectively.) the voices of these musical brothers sound as if they were born to blend. A triad of vocal harmonies is completed by newcomer bassist, Dave Carno. His luscious vibrato and low tones roll along with the expressive and intricate thunder of Jake Sherin's 7 drums, 6 cymbals, and 1 cowbell. (Yes… he plays them all.) There is more that could be said about Van Loon’s soul satisfying and wildly entertaining guitar playing, Mann’s unexpectedly beautiful and impactful voice, or the wide universes of influence the band draws guidance from to craft their music. But, there is nothing that can be written about MEDIUMS that can’t be better experienced by forgetting about labels or expectation and opening up to their sound and the messages contained therein. MEDIUMS are a spirited group of rock musicians that believe in something more.
