About Will Thomas Reed
Virginia Native, Will Thomas Reed, has been cutting his teeth in the music industry since the age of 13; first by sneaking into the Charlottesville bars, where his local heroes would perform, and later by touring and performing in different inversions of their projects.
After accepting a Bluegrass Scholarship to East Tennessee State University, the opportunity for a full-time touring Bassist, with the Grammy Award Winning band “12 Stones” opened and Will, being a lover of all music, quickly filled the spot; Several years later, that project disbanded and Will moved on as Lead Guitarist for the band “Throwing Gravity” before fronting his first project the “Will Thomas Band”, touring with mega-successes like “Daughtry”, “Randy Rogers Band” and many others.
Burned out, frustrated, and pulling further away from his Country/Bluegrass roots, Will took a much needed hiatus to write, record and develop his own brand and unique musical sound - which blends Traditional Country with Americana and Classic Rock-And-Roll in a very special, yet Modern Country way.
“My music comes from so many different places and such a wide span of influences, it’s hard to nail it down. I pull from artists like Ralph Stanley and the Dillard’s, early Emo like Texas is the Reason and Jimmy Eat World, but also throw-back to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, and then everything in between Miles Davis and Black Sabbath.” –Will Thomas Reed
The love of Country Music permeates within Will Thomas Reed’s new EP “To Whom It May Concern…”, recorded and produced in Nashville at The Cat Room and Brown Owl Studios with Brian Craddock (Daughtry) and mixed by Matt Ross-Spang (Elvis Presley, Margo Price, Jason Isbell, Chris Stapleton), at the famed Sam Phillips Recording in Memphis, and mastered by Brad Blackwood (Alison Krauss and Union Station, Sara Bareilles, Black Eyed Peas) at Euphonic Masters, is a brilliant blend of fun and emotional life-stories, but also showcases great songwriting and a wide array of dynamic musical influence.
“As a child, I can remember listening to George Jones on vinyl and thinking about how honest his voice and lyrics were; He told stories that would make you fall in love, break your heart, make you laugh or cry; such conviction in every song.”
