About Terry McGowan
Born in Germany, Bath based drummer Terry McGowan has been playing since the age of 13, having had the opportunity and privilege to be professionally tutored by some of Germany, UK and USA’s finest tutors including Jörg Bach, Tommy Eberhardt, Claus Hessler, Rick Finlay, Dave Ohm, Tim Giles and the late great Jim Chapin.
Coming from a musical family, thanks to his father Richard, he has been exposed to Jazz from an early age, having the honour to attend tours and performances of the legendary saxophone player Ernie Watts for several years. Thanks to these influences, Terry’s knowledge and music enthusiasm have been solidified during the years.
After knowing that music would become Terry’s career choice, he started to learn the basics in music, allowing him to attend one of England’s best Universities (Middlesex University), to get a Bachelors degree in Jazz and going forward to win the “Best performance of the year” award.
In the past years, Terry has been collaborating with various musicians and styles everything from Heavy Metal to Drum n’ Bass and Funk to Pop, developing a broader and more extensive way of understanding and feeling music.
Following his growing interest in music education, Terry has conducted workshops in Germany, Greece and the UK.
After teaching in the London area Terry is now ready to continue his “pilgrimage” in Bath.
