About Victor Willis
Born in Dallas, Texas. Victor Willis is the son of a Baptist preacher. He grew up in the church in the San Francisco Bay area. After high school, Victor ventured to New York, and soon found himself on Broadway in such plays as The Wiz, and Two Gentlemen of Verona. In 1977, while recording an album for an independent record label. Victor Willis was introduced to Jacques Morali by Horace Ott who was Victor's musical director for the solo album Victor was recording in 1977. After hearing Victor sing background vocals for the Ritchie Family, Morali pulled Willis aside and said look, I had a dream that I created a group with you as lead singer. I can't pay you much right now, but if you'd sing lead on the album and it's a hit, I'll make you a star. Morali and Willis soon auditioned additional members that would form a group that would became the largest disco group of all times. Victor Willis sung and wrote such smash hits as Macho Man, YMCA, In the Navy, Hot Cop, and Go West, to name a few. OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE OF VICTOR WILLIS, original lead singer of all the hits.
