About Barry Sless

Barry Sless is Jerry Garcia on steroids. That is, technically. Artistically, hmmmm... this is would be hard one to call.

Mr. Garcia earned the distinction of being the first. Mr. Sless has earned the respect for being true to the purpose of the style.

Why? Partially because Jerry set the standard and Barry meets the standard on the guitar, but surpasses on the pedal steel.

If Barry came before Jerry in time, Jerry would be compared to Barry. Jerry would be listing to Barry play "Teach Your Children" with Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and being inspired to play the steele.

Jerry was a head of his time.

But it's Barry's turn. And he deserves the right to be listened to and even compared to some of the greatest guitarist, the greatest rock and roll musicians of all time. Perhaps not in fame, but in heart, and in talent, and in skill.

About Barry. He likely knows it. But he would never let on to anyone that he does know it.
