About Banned FTC

Banned FTC were formed in 2015 when British singer, songwriter Iain (Linamix) Harris met with a reggae and ska influenced, Argentinian, multi instrumentalist, Esteban Aap, at an open mic in Noosa. Esteban took Linamix’s rap, rock and garnishing it with solid driving bass riffs, unnatural lead licks and haunting South American vocals, add to this the raw talent and technical ability of a 14, yes that‘s right 14 year old drummer (Max) and you have the grounds for a unique and alternative pith. Esteban lays down a bass loop then shreds the fabric of time with a blistering solo an octave up over it, still using the same guitar, Linamix’s vocal range redefines classic classing creating a new range spanning from baritone to tenor using both Spanish and English, Max’s commitment and style warps your mind with intricate fills and powerful, tight rhythm to truly bury the deep, driving funkadelia into your ears; the whole time the energy on stage would have Yo Muma up and dancing.

The excitement of getting in the studio and laying down recordings of their songs had the band stoked, as did feedback from Therase Burke, the host of Noosa 101.3 FM’s “Friday drive time”, when she said “Band from The Club are fun and contagious. Be sure and ready to have your spirit lifted with `Say Whoa` and 'Restless; it's just their style.” add to that, Graeme Hennell the organiser of Rise to Remain and sunshine coast promoter who said “I recently had the pleasure of watching “Band From The Club” perform as part of this musical competition. They offered an eclectic mix of funky originals with a very interesting takes on a cover thrown in. The band was tight and offered a variety of songs to suit all patrons at the venue. Thoroughly enjoyed by everyone” This solidified the bands desire to keep rehearsing and polish the live show even further.

The band has a love for playing in the bars and clubs on and around the Sunshine Coast. The immediate goal is to break into the festival scene; the allure of the big sound systems at major venues is intoxicating to a group of guys that crave the thrill and fun of playing an outdoor show. In the near future the band plans to organise a high profile national tour to engage with fans all over the country.

This self-managed, self-funded, truly independent endeavour is driven by a work hard, play hard attitude that is born of unadulterated passion. Ultimately this band is a genuine mixing pot of styles, as a live act they are polished and full of energy, driven by the dirty, fun sound they have fine tuned, as long as the show blows you away, who cares how the night ends, heck, let’s all get Banned!
