About TRP.P

TRP.P (pronounced "TRIP-ee") is a Toronto band breaking barriers on the Hip- Hop/R&B scene. Made up of Truss (producer, singer/songwriter) and TRP.P (pronounced "trippy") is an R&B duo hailing from Toronto, Canada. Comprised of Truss (producer, singer/songwriter) and Phoenix Pagliacci (singer/ songwriter), the two had already begun their solo careers when they met in the Fall of 2015. Two years later, they had released their self-titled debut EP.

In 2017, Truss was awarded the iLive Artist of the Year Award, an award given to an artist who has received exceptional appreciation by radio DJs from both Canada and the UK. The following year, TRP.P opened for R&B superstar Kehlani at Toronto Pride. Shortly after, the two once again returned to their solo endeavors, Phoenix focusing more on her rapping abilities, and Truss building on his production catalogue.

In 2018, Phoenix became a member of Toronto-based Hip-Hop group The Sorority. The group released an album, “Pledge”, which saw production from Truss. Once again crossing artistic paths, the duo decided to create another album.

After a two-year hiatus, TRP.P returned in September 2019 with their sophomore release “2TRP.P”. The album was very well received and was even awarded a 9/10 review from Exclaim! Magazine. The lead single, “Love, Calm Down”, was featured on NOW Magazine’s #NOWPlaying playlist on Spotify, and the video was premiered on The FADER. TRP.P also performed some of the album’s songs in the CBC Studio for First Play Live and were guests on the Here and Now radio show with Gil Deacon. TRP.P was also featured on the Made in Toronto segment on FLOW 93.5 FM and have been interviewed by popular queer media outlet Daily Xtra.

In addition to CBC and FLOW, TRP.P has received play on Canadian radio stations such as CKDU 88.1, G 98.1, VIBE 105.5, CKCU 93.1 and CFRU 93.3. TRP.P has also received radio play in Europe, notably the UK, Germany, and Sweden. Both SOCAN members, Truss and Phoenix have contributed as songwriters to the Canadian music industry. Most recently, the two participated in a songwriting camp for Sony ATV Publishing. Phoenix also won a 2019 SOCAN Song of the Year Award for her contribution on Juno-award winning rapper Shad’s album “A Short Story About a War”, which was also short-listed for a Polaris Prize. Since their most recent release, TRP.P has been added to the Paquin Artists Agency, a booking agency managing artists such as K’NAAN, Buffy Sainte-Marie and The Strumbellas.

With two albums under their belt, TRP.P continues to build upon their live show. To date, they have played numerous shows and festivals, including House of PainT, POP! Montreal, Kazoo! Fest and Toronto-based festivals such as Wavelength and Venus Fest. TRP.P released their latest album, "Mirror Soul" in June of 2022.
