About Reptile Zoo

The Zoo began on Renfrew Street. Each member had moved from all over to Vancouver, beginning classes for a diploma in audio engineering. They met up a couple times to jam in a cramped apartment but it wasn't working out. Eventually a rehearsal space was rented, a few songs were written, and Reptile Zoo was born. As their skills as recording engineers in school were honed, they recorded many demos and began planning their first EP. By this time two original members had parted and Ethan White joined Brendan Martens, Foss John, and Tado Thorburn in their current line-up. It was then decided that each member would take on a multi-instumentalist role both live and in the studio. Since the band's inception, their sound has become more progressive and psychedelic with each track, and this will be showcased on the debut EP "Chameleon," taking influence from classic bands such as Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Byrds, and Jefferson Airplane among others. It has been a labour of love for the band; they have written, recorded, mixed and mastered everything themselves over the course of a few months. "Chameleon" will be released March 1, 2015. In March 2014, one of the pre-released singles, "Vacuous", was featured on Captain SIB's Psychedelic Freakout, a UK psychedelic music podcast from Scotland. "The Heaven Child," was also pre-released on the CITR 101.9 FM show, "Stranded" on April 25th 2014, and is now available for digital download. In addition, a music video for the single "The Plumber" has been released to receptions of hilarity. The band is currently in their basements recording demos and experimenting with the sounds that will evolve into the music that will cause your grandmother to have acid flashbacks.
