They were really good I thought but there was lot of extra noise that they didn't need on the stage they played the same songs they have been playing as a band since 1969 and two band members died Dusty Lee the Bass Guitar player and Frank Beard on Drums so they Have Francis Elwood and Billy Gibbons and Michael Monahan on drums now since Frank Beard died last week they played all of there albums from the 70s and 80s And the First opener was not very good it was disappointing and the Second opener George Thorgood and the Destroyers were good and I saw them at Foxwoods Resort and C****o last Year And Have seen a lot of great classic Rock bands that have ever played music on the Stage

The first few numbers were a little rough, but the Billy "found" his voice. Overall a great, high-energy show with plenty of opportunities to join in! The band didn't hold back. The venue could do a little better than hard plastic folding chairs. My a*s was numb by the time the show was over.

ZZ Top was good. I didn't like how they shortened their songs and played just a little over an hour. They were the headliner and this was our most expensive concert this year. I feel a bit ripped off. Still I am glad I finally saw them. Now I know.

Amazing show! Billy and the band killed it (Even without Frank Beard for this show) and played a great set of hits and deep cuts! Of course, the show could have been a bit longer as it was 1 hour and 15 minutes, but Billy’s awesome guitar jams and the rhythm section lead to a great performance.

ZZ Top was sensational! The three-man group exceeded my expectations . They also transported me back to a true rock ‘n roll experience of pure rock ‘n roll! Their musical talent is phenomenal & I’ve been a fan for years! I’m actually wearing their concert shirt right now & am so lucky & honored to see them each time they come to Abq, NM. I began as a fan in CA & have never stopped

One of the best shows that I have seen in quite some time. My only complaint is that the venue needs to make the concessions easier to get to for handicapped ticket payers. The ADA is not allowing visitors to not have to climb stairs with motorized scooters and walkers. Other than that the weather and show were very good. I loved it and so did my girlfriend.

The whole experience was great! The venue was beautiful and all the employees were very friendly and helpful. They looked like they were having a good time, too! Every thing was clean and well taken care of. Our seats were in the orchestra section and we had an amazing view of the stage. I think this was the best performance I’ve seen of ZZ Top! They were excellent! This is the first concert I’ve been to where I knew all the words of every song they played. They are excellent musicians and performers! They always involve the fans while they are playing, and no one can perform or play like ZZ Top! They are so unique! I’m so glad I got to see and hear them play! I hope I get to see them in concert again!

It was great to finally see these guys in concert. They opened the concert for LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Some guy sitting near us, told us that they would only play for about 45 minutes. We were so surprised that they actually rocked the pavilion for about an hour and a half! Gin and I went to this great concert! LYNYRD SKYNYRD were great that night, too! A perfect night for a truly great concert with my daughter! This was one of my favorite concerts!

Concert was great. We were in ADA seating Lawn and there needs to be some sort of barrier behind the people seated. There were folks crowding behind my friend in the wheelchair. He was asked a few times to back up. Like he was unable to see the guy in the wheelchair. By the end of the show there was quite a few people crowding the ADA platform. Other than that every employee that we spoke with was very friendly and helpful in every manner. From the parking to the lady that drove us back to our car from the ticket booth. Very great experience. We go fairly often but it was the first time with a wheelchair user.

After Dusty passed, the new blood with the bassist brought some new life to old tunes. He is one cool cat! Billy Gibbons ALWAYS rocks the house! His one hand guitar solo is dumbfounding. Third time seeing them since 1980s eliminator tour & i’d go again!

This was my first concert and I’m glad it was ZZTop! Videos don’t do it justice. They still sound amazing and Billy Gibbons voice is still on point. Will definitely be seeing them again when they come back to SLC. The Eccles managed the parking and crowds pretty well and it was smooth going in and out of the venue. The theater is clean and well designed with every seat having a good unobstructed (audio and visual wise) view of the stage!

I've seen ZZ Top 6 times (and Billy Gibbons solo). The show was great as usual. However, the house sound system left alot to be desired. I had a ticket in the center 5th row and it was very hard to hear and experience the true full sound of the band. What the venue needs are fill-in speakers across the front so ticket holders in the front and center can hear the concert correctly. Otherwise, you are listening to the speakers hanging on the sides of the stage. I've been to Ovation Hall plenty of times and that's what I find lacking. I will go ZZ Top again and again!

It was a pretty short show they played maybe an hour and a half if that I was surprised to be out of there before 11:00 . The show ended about 10 after 10:00. The. Music was good the sound is turned down at that place so that is another reason for the 3 1/2 Stars.

ZZ Top/Kenny Wayne Shepherd 8/6/22 “ZZ is one of my Top 10 fave bands but oddly this was only my second time seeing them, not that I didn’t have opportunities and held other tickets. I held tickets for a 7/28/21 canceled show, same venue, exact same seat (Stage R., Row 1, Seat 1), it was the day following Dusty’s untimely passing. Another time of note was in 2014 when I went to Florida for rehab and gave away my tickets, however coming back and staying sober I consider it more than a fair trade off! Jeff Beck was the opener that day, but I’ll take Kenny Wayne Shepherd as a compensation of sort. The weather for what was billed as ‘The Raw Whiskey Tour’ was a cloudy 88°, which after sixty days of 90+ this year was near perfect for an outdoor show. Being front row I was able to watch Kenny’s breakdown and ZZ’s set up. At center was Beard’s black and gold drum kit monogramed ‘Senor Beard’ with projecting whiskey barrel images and the band’s 50th anniversary monogramed on the dual bass drum. The platform holding the killer kit (complete with gong) was lined with cut out zzz’s, there were illuminated zzz’s running up and down the mic stands as well. The stage itself was lined with stacks of Magnatone M-80 vintage amps (8 on each side), a throwback to the 70’s. There were no video screens. I had seen Dusty play Live my only other time seeing the band in 2007 so I wasn’t disappointed to see Elwood Francis, but rather held in anticipation to see him do his thing. Elwood, the band’s 30 year guitar tech and replacement per Dusty’s wishes (plus a resume’ including G**s And Roses, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, Steve Vai, and the Black Crows) delivered, complete with beard! Showtime commenced and it was the ‘Reverend’ Gibbons 72 with Beard 73 clearly in the lead with a 75 minute/16 song set of Texas boogie at its finest. There was a surprise of ‘Brown Sugar’ from their eponymous first album. In ‘Jesus Just Left Chicago’, Gibbons switched out the lyrics to ‘and then he got wise came down to South Carolina, you know what I’m talking about yeah everybody’s sure looking fine!’ On ‘Just Got Paid’ Billy broke out his Gibson for some slide guitar action while Elwood strapped on a double-neck combo guitar and bass. And of course, the classic white fur Bo Diddly style matching bass and guitars were a highlight on ‘Sharp Dressed Man’. Billy showing off some one handed playing then turning his guitar around to reveal the word ‘Beer’ written on the back during the classic song. The encore ended with ’Tube Snake Boogie’ and ‘’La Grange’ with a shower of bubbles from the stage raining into the audience. The band having come back to the stage after a drink of ‘water’, Billy & Elwood were sporting matching burgundy jackets, black pants, and Zemaitis Z-Series bass and six string. Elwood introduced by Billy, ‘My main man he was out there by the tour bus drinkin’ moonshine whiskey, by the way that is no stick on beard y’all get the real deal’ was clearly comfortable on stage. Chanting out,’ Take me with ya Jesus’, and ‘Play it one more time come on Jesus’ during Jesus Just Left Chicago. Slapping the fret board on ‘Gimmie All Your Lovin’ and dancing around in circles and hopping about the stage on ‘La Grange’. However, the set falling short of what’s become a traditional hour and a half rock set did leave us all a bit misguided as to whether the band would come out once again. Also noticeably missing from the set were ‘Tush’ and ‘Cheap Sunglasses’, maybe ‘cause Tush was Dusty’s lead, and Cheap generally overplayed?? Kenny Wayne got the crowd energized early opening with a 50 minute/8 song set, engaging the audience, ‘This is the blues ladies and gentlemen are you with me tonight?’ KWS mentioned that he had just had (an unspecified) surgery a few days prior and that he might need to sit down. Two bar stools were set up but he never used them, he merely sat on the drum platform once during a captivating and extended keyboard solo via Joe Krown from New Orleans on the Hammond B-3. After which he delivered a finger-blistering solo in full stance position. A highlight of the night for me: I got talking to Kenny Wayne’s tech and he took my camera on stage and grabbed some pics for me before the show! All in all it was a good night in Simpsonville South Carolina!” by DAve (Concerts #682, 683)

Billy Gibbons & band are a total class act! We had a severe weather delay, but the h******e fans, venue & band stuck it out to play an entire setlist before the imposed curfew! Band was tight, but honestly they could lose the bass player who didn’t contribute much, keep Billy & drummer Frank Beard, play most of the ZZ favorites except those Dusty Hill sang & go on forever! Ah Haw Haw Haw Haw!

song was not the best set i seen volume was low it was like we watch some friend play in basement , gibbons play guitars between songs like it was a jam session , crowd was quiet but still good zz top classic to see but for sure my last one but pretty sur if sound was much louder it help put some energy to the show

Brilliant show. ZZ Top are still rocking it out after 50 years. Great combination of songs displaying virtuoso lead guitar, wonderful bass guitar and finely honed synchronisation between artists. The sound was fresh with innovative riffs complementing the familiar and expected numbers. It was over all too quickly despite two encores.

Cheap Trick first, Mad Co second, ZZ Top on 3 hours after scheduled start. Heard Mad Co a couple months ago in Nashville open for Lynyrd Skynyrd and acoustics much better in Austin. ZZ Top great set, great video, and great setting. Would go back tomorrow. Food OK. Beer readily available. Crowd friendly. Used upgraded parking at $25 per car. This saved a long walk or waiting for shuttle.

ZZ Top really was sharp at Rot Rally in Austin Sat. nite they're guitar playing and their voice is still in pretty good shape. solid performance and what a crowd there was there on Saturday. by the way the opening band, the badwater boys from El Paso Texas, were awesome. I became an instant fan, check them out there's a reason they were opening up for ZZ Top they're really good.
