Down The Middle

Down The Middle are an indie rock band based in Sydney, formed in late 2017. With varying musical backgrounds and an appreciation for similar artists, the band have created a unique sound characterised by vocal hooks, a driving rhythm section and dynamic guitars likened to The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and Pixies.

The foundations were laid by guitarists Tiernan and Rudi, long settled expats from Ireland and South Africa respectively, who began writing songs together in 2016. After struggling to get the right fit to complete the lineup, the pair almost called it quits until they met Zach - a DJ who they were following on triple j Unearthed - after he played at Home Nightclub, Sydney. With previous experience as a drummer, Zach became a full member after one practice. After noticing the plays increase on rough SoundCloud demos, they were then approached by Matt who had bass lines ready for the first practice; cementing his place immediately.

Down The Middle have played 16 shows to date that include headlining iconic Sydney venues such as The Chippendale Hotel, The Marlborough Hotel, and Vic On The Park. With interstate gigs included in this list, and an upcoming four state tour in April to promote the release of their debut single “Green Eyed”, Down The Middle see 2018 as an opportunity to release more music and increase their fan base by getting in front of as many people as possible.
