About ETOILE NOIRE
Fabien Melanson (Singer/Songwriter/Guitar) & Justin Trudeau (Singer/Songwriter/Guitar)
As bilingual Canadians, the Etoile Noire duo write and perform mostly English with a mix of French added in to highlight their heritage. Influenced by groups such as: Gordon Lightfoot, Steve Earle, The Strokes. Etoile Noire had their debut performance in April 2017, opening for the Juno-winning Julian Taylor Band, but the country-folk duo have been playing cover shows together in their hometown of Ottawa since 2015.
In this short period of time, they’ve already received coverage from Apt 613, interviews on CHUO Ottawa University Radio, and spins on CKCU Carleton University Radio. They have also performed an opening show for Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) in July. Debut album release with a performance is scheduled for November 8, 2017, at Live on Elgin.
CityFolk, formerly the Ottawa Folk Festival, recognized their potential in inviting them to perform twice at this year’s Marvest. Etoile Noire have built a strong network of promoters and venue owners keen on booking them based on this upcoming release.
