About The Wondershop Showdown

You don't really see many ska bands around these days. Dismissed as a fad from the 90s, the genre often doesn't get the attention it deserves. The Wondershop Showdown is here to help rectify this problem. Comprised of 10 members that met at Penn State and hail from suburban Philadelphia, this young group is looking to have a serious impact on the local music scene. Drawing influences from a variety of bands and genres, Wondershop aims to achieve an eclectic blend of rock, ska, funk, progressive, alternative, and whatever else they can get their hands on. Since their debut gig at an open mic in 2010, the band's catchy riffs and bright horn lines have been forcing audiences to sit up and pay attention. And they have. During their time at Penn State, Wondershop appeared on The LION 90.7FM, B94.5 FM, and won the Movin' On Battle of the Bands in 2012 and 2013, subsequently opening up for such acts as Gloriana, Big Boi, Young The Giant, Ludacris, The Avett Brothers, and MGMT at the Movin' On Spring Music Festival. In February 2013 the group played at Penn State Dance Marathon 2013 & Millenium Music Conference in Harrisburg. They have also played The State Theatre (State College), The Darkhorse Tavern (State College), The Fire (Philly), JR's Bar (Philly) and too many house shows & benefit concerts too count. Since graduating and relocating to Philadelphia, the band has continued to play, focusing on both original and cover gigs. With a wedding and a corporate event under their belts, the Wondershop Showdown is ready to take on whatever comes next.
