About Giant's Magazine
"A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal." This quote, taken from the movie "The Big Fish", represents the essence of the work of Pedro Melo, a musician who insists on portraying the world he sees through his indie folk sound. It's really easy to do it - his guitar, together with his soft voice, are the minimum requirements to feel true joy. And so, he writes his story in GIANT'S MAGAZINE.
Having just released his first EP, "The Storyteller", Pedro is always thinking about the realization of his first album, a work inspired by his own life that is already written and practically composed. Songs like "Time to Grow", "Pete, the Little Giant" or even "The Storyteller" are already playing in some radio stations through Portugal, which made it possible for Pedro to participate in numerous events, mainly in the Northern region of the country. His curriculum already counts on several solidary events, television appareances and concerts in places like the DST Emerging Galleries, TEDx Braga, GNRation and the Braga's Book Fair. He now wants to expand his concerts to the rest of the country so he can bring his folk to everyone.
The journey to get to this point has not been simple. Learning to play some instruments by himself, Pedro launched his first public cover about 5 years ago on the YouTube platform, like many others. After some invitations to small events, he was challenged to participate in The Voice Portugal, which opened new doors to his own development as an artist. Influenced by projects like Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers and Tallest Man On Earth, he learned to enjoy the folk sound that now characterizes him and inspires him in his new compositions.
"Most men, they'll tell you a story straight through. It won't be complicated, but it won't be interesting either." This is what makes Pedro and GIANT'S MAGAZINE unique: without any deadlines, he tries to convert everyone back to a badly loved musical genre in the country he was born. It's not an easy path to tread, but it is a worthwhile path. Well, don’t forget we are talking about a singer-songwriter who is, above all else, a storyteller.
