About Brett Reed

Brett Reed
Brett Reed
Brett Reed is a percussionist, composer, and educator specializing in contemporary and improvised music.. Based in Phoenix, Arizona, he's equally at home as a solo performer and as a collaborator, lending his talents to ensembles including Union32, Crossing 32nd Street, Skin & Bones, and The Tjader Project, as well as performing as a jazz vibraphonist in both solo and group settings.

Over the course of his career, Brett has engineered, produced, and performed on a wide range of recordings — from the works of composers like Mark Applebaum, Iannis Xenakis, and Keith Kelly, band projects with the Michael Collins Trio and Stellacutta, alongside his own band projects and original compositions spanning solo percussion, chamber ensembles, and mixed-media projects.

Brett holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of California, San Diego, where he studied with celebrated percussionist Steven Schick. He currently directs the Music Industry Studies program at Paradise Valley Community College, teaching courses in music business, studio recording, and popular music performance.
