Harville

Harville is an alternative rock & soul band from Brooklyn, NY. Reunited high school classmates Jonathan Singletary (vocals and guitar) and Jay Troop (vocals and bass) join forces with Sam Phelps (lead guitar) and Mark Bell (drums) to create rich, textured songs blending the soul, folk, hip hop, and rock they love. Jonathan and Jay named the band “Harville” after their high school english teacher as a reminder of the feeling of home their favorite music evokes, as they draw on influences that range from TV on The Radio and Twenty One Pilots, to Ben Howard and Jack Garratt.

Originally from the SF Bay Area, and both having left careers in science and technology, multi-instrumentalists Jonathan and Jay built Harville on the belief that music and art can transcend genre, bridging and connecting cultures and races. They began cutting records with Mikaelin “Blue” Bluespruce (Solange, Blood Orange, Hamilton) and Abe Seiferth (Yeasayer, LCD Soundsystem) to create a sound that has moved crowds of hip hop, pop, folk, and rock lovers.

Building on the momentum they’ve gathered since their sold out debut in July 2017 and their first major festival performance on the mainstage of AFROPUNK in 2018, they are set to release their debut EP early in 2019. As AFROPUNK noted, Harville is "out for Blood."
