Nairobi's Gregory Juma-Wandera aka Gregory XIII is a relatively new name in Kenya's Christian Rap circles, but he is a servant out on a mission. Born in 1985 in Busia (Kenya) this highly lyrically-empowered emcee started doing music in Kampala (Uganda) in 2004 but emerged with the wake of the Kisumu-based hip-hop group, Tha Milli, in 2007/08. He absorbed the poetic and clever wordplays mastered by the group before he accepted Christ into his life in late 2010. He now employs those skills in a much improved way as he delivers The Holy Word to his audience. He works under his own indie label, Urban Muzik Gospel Recordings, in collaboration with the producers, Dan Kiunge Jr (Def Pound Africa Entertainment) and Tommy Owiti (LaFamClassic Beats). The fifth born in a family of seven with a past in drug & alcohol abuse coupled with extreme teenage rebellion is now a changed man and a proud dad and a member of International Christian Centre (Kenya) which is a part of the Kenya Assemblies of God. "I strive to use the gifts God gave me to give Him back the glory coz it is my role to and coz He deserves it", says the K Town-bred emcee who works as a creative designer at branding and signage firm in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.
