About Matt McCormack Music

Matt McCormack is a seasoned singer-songwriter residing in Austin, Tx. Matt has collaborated and co-written songs with the likes of Gene Simmons of KISS, Texas Songwriting Legend Bill Carter, Charlie and Will Sexton, Texas Country Music staple Pat Green, Honeybrowne, Miranda Lambert guitarist Alex Weeden,
Alejandro Escovedo, Joey Shuffield of Fastball and many other artists around the United States. Early accolades from leading radio station KGSR 107.1 in 2001 (shortlisted for best new act) as well as songs placed in Lionsgate Films and commercial work for the San Antonio Spurs has been given the unique and rare opportunity to work, play shows with and create personally with the people he artistically admires . These artists include Todd Snider, Bill Carter, Alejandro Escovedo, Ian Moore, Blind Melon, Johnny Depp, The David Letterman Show, Jack Ingram, Charlie Sexton.....

After musical residencies in Nashville and Los Angeles, McCormack put music aside to focus on his management group M3/NewPony which handled the careers of Austin's own Bill Carter and Will Sexton. 2012 -2013 were whirlwind years for M3/NewPony clients....with David Letterman appearances and artistic praises from American Songwriter, Spin, EW, Rolling Stone...... AfterGive.com, a nonprofit for artists in dire straits (Artists For Traumatic Emergency Relief) was ready to launch with overwhelming enthusiasm. During this time Matt McCormack's documentary film was created and started titled "That's What I'm Doing Here". The film depicts the day to day lives and performances of Father-In- Law and future Rock N Roll Hall Of Famer Alejandro Escovedo, Texas sonhwriting legend Bill Carter and Bob Dylan guitarist Charlie Sexton.
Unfortunately all was lost on Oct.31st 2013. The Onion Creek flood devastated South Austin and left McCormack and family (uninsured flood victims) with no government or FEMA assistance.

Charlie Sexton posted a message to music fans for a recent Ausin All-Star Benefit held for The McCormack Family...http://www.austinchronicle.com/daily/music/2014-02-05/alejandro-escovedo-hosts-matt-mccormack-benefit

"Matt is a very close friend and Great supporter of so many ...On an Ironic note Almost exactly a month prior to the flood that literally washed it all away, Matt and I were having many conversations about a charitable organization he wishes to create that could lend aid to those who Found themselves in similar situations, Please show your support and enjoy a great show as well" C.S.

In 2014 McCormack has returned to where it all started...his music. The bandleader states " The cd's I have self released over the last decade "Tonopah", "Here We Go Again" and of course "Rock Bottom Choir" have consumed most of my adult life...Returning to the world of performing and writing is where my passion is. It got me through hardest and most difficult times in my life....now ..it's all I have. Just like it was when I was 25 years old. I honor and appreciate the craft of songwriting and performing."
"I'm Not Going To Sink...I gotta keep rowing...."- Smallest Rock- from the debut release Tonopah
