Brooker D

Derek Brooker is a San Francisco based guitar player with roots in jazz, blues, and rock and roll. He's been playing music professionally for two decades. Derek has a Bachelor of Arts in Music from San Francisco State University. While he has supported pit orchestras for musicals in San Francisco, San Jose and the greater Bay Area, and has shared the stage with renowned artists including but not limited to John Popper, Leo Nocenteli, George Porter Jr., Bill Kreutzman, and Roosevelt Collier, he is best known at this point in his career for his ten year stint in the rock and roots band Tracorum. He has played at many festivals up and down the West Coast, including High Sierra Music Festival, Desert Rocks, Guitarfish, and For the Funk of It. Derek has been lucky enough to be included in the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival activities for over ten years. He has toured extensively in the United States, Europe, and Egypt.

BROOKER D AND THE MELLOW FELLOWS
Derek Brooker, Erin Cassidy, and Mike Meagher have come together to create music which, while essentially falling under the category of rock music, abandons generic trappings of the genre and experiments with rhythm, dissonance, and instrumentation. They have a musical conversation which needs to be heard and cannot easily be described. Expect danceable, funky, fun rock and roll.

featuring Sean Lehe (Jelly Bread, Izabella), Derek Brooker (Tracorum), John Morales (Dad’s LP’s, 10 Mile Tide), Jeff Coleman (Poor Man’s Whiskey, Uncle Harlen’s Band), and Sam Phelps (Izabella, Drunken Kung Fu).

This band churns out what is at once, a raw and refined take on classic rock and roll. Old tunes sound new, and new tunes sound like you’ve heard them on the airwaves for as long as you can remember. Dual lead guitar lines weave in and out of a dense rhythm section, some sweet harmonies to bring you back home after a big jam. Familiar and comfortable, while also daring and exploratory. Dance floor friendly, but certainly not afraid to fly!
