About The Cavor Project Band

Infusing fresh, explosive energy into vocal and instrumental classics from the 80’s through 2017 and spicing up their set list with dynamic originals throughout, The Cavor Project has been a mainstay on the Cleveland music scene for over ten years. Led by bandleader and saxophonist Andre Cavor, the eleven piece ensemble is known as one of the most diverse bands in the city.
The Cavor Project has brought their powerhouse, grooving mix of everyone’s favorite R&B, smooth jazz, R&B, smooth jazz, hip-hop, reggae, pop, blues, rock and gospel to hundreds of local restaurants and private parties. They have also headlined shows once a month for the past three years at Jack Thistledown Racino, a thoroughbred racetrack and casino in North Randall, on the outskirts of Cleveland. The Cavor Project is excited to announce as of August 2017, they are now playing inside Hard Rock Rocksino Café, Northfield, OH.
The Cavor Project’s current lineup features of the most diverse musical talents in the city. The core musicians include Cavor on sax, Walter Barnes rhythm guitar, Jarieal Willis on bass, Larry Owens on keys and EJ Davis on drums. EJ, who tours with multiple Grammy and Dove Award winning artist Israel Houghton, is considered by many to be the hottest drummer currently working in Cleveland. The vocal section features two females (Jamilya Doss, and Lacretia Bolden), Lacretia is also a multi-talented drummer, bassist and keyboardist who plays those instruments on specific numbers. We also have one male singer (Dion Davis, who has been with The Cavor Project from the beginning) and hip-hop artist The Spliff.
During their high energy full ensemble shows, band members enjoy coming off the stage and interacting with members of the audience and using breaks in the show to meet and greet people as their accompanying DJ plays musical interludes. “Their chemistry is based on the fun they have making music and the high level of respect they have for one another,” says band manager Althea Cavor. “Everyone gels together perfectly, having fun, laughing a lot and enjoying every moment.”
The Cavor Project is also adaptable to smaller settings depending on the venue’s specific needs, from a two-piece unit with digital backing tracks up to the full ensemble. The band works with its bookers and clients to find the perfect lineup for a sound that will fill the room.
Band founder Andre Cavor is a veteran jazz and gospel saxophonist who has appeared on Trinity Broadcasting Network playing “Total Praise” and was also a featured performer at T.D. Jakes’ Man Power Men’s Conference. In 2017, he will be releasing his highly anticipated full-length debut album Road Trip, which consists of five smooth jazz tracks and five gospel tracks. The project was produced by fellow saxophonist and genre artist Darren Rahn, who has previously helmed recordings for Dave Koz, Wayman Tisdale, Jonathan Butler, Najee, Kirk Whalum, Eric Darius, Jeffrey Osborne and Jeff Lorber.
