About Bong Hits for Jesus

Bong Hits For Jesus is as impossible to define as they are original. Equal parts rock, funk, reggae, hip hop, indie, and punk, their sound is experimental and always in flux. Taking its eyebrow-raising name from a Supreme Court Free Speech case, the band stands for freedom of speech, self-expression, legalization, and having fun! With two studio releases, BHFJ has featured drummers Mike McDermott of The Bouncing Souls and Chuck Treece of Urge Overkill/Bad Brains. The band’s first album, The Monkeybird LP, debuted in 2010 with the single “High Up” being featured in the film Living Will starring the late Ryan Dunn of Jackass fame. In 2012, the band released their second studio album, Low Rent Hustlers. Produced by Grammy-nominated engineer David Ivory, the single “Tuesdays” received radio play on stations such as 93.3 WMMR, Pandora, and various other internet stations. Bong Hits has also taken their traveling circus on the road with several U.S. Tours and numerous festival appearances including the 2014 Seattle Hempfest, the 2012, 2013, 2014 Hemp Heals Music Festival in Philadelphia, the 2013 Lunar Bay Music & Arts Festival, the 2013 Irie Vibes Music Festival, and the 2013 Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA. They have performed alongside bands including Sublime with Rome, Cypress Hill, Pepper, Slightly Stoopid, Stephen Marley, G. Love and Special Sauce, Rebelution, Matisyahu, Collie Buddz, Zion I, moe., Stick Figure, and The Expendables. Currently, Bong Hits For Jesus is recording their third studio album.
