The Heeby Gee Bees

ההיביג'יביז, מהרכבי הבלוז המובילים בישראל כיום, נודעו בזכות ההופעות האנרגטיות והביצועים המשובחים לקלאסיקות בלוז ורוק אהובות. הלהקה מופיעה ללא הפסקה מיום הקמתה, וצברה לה מוניטין כאחת הלהקות העובדות ביותר בארץ. ההיביג'יביז החלו את דרכם בשלהי 2006 כצמד בלוז אקוסטי. גיא דגן (שירה ומפוחית) ואסף ברק (גיטרה ושירה), הכירו, כמו הרבה זוגות מודרניים, באינטרנט... דגן (בנם של זמרת הנשמה הישראלית צילה דגן והשחקן עזרא דגן), שיחק בעבר בהצגות ומחזות זמר, ניגן ושר בהפקות שונות והיה ועודנו נגן המפוחית של אפרים שמיר. ברק ניגן כגיטריסט בהפקות והרכבים שונים, ושניהם מצאו שפה משותפת בבלוז. המפגש בין השניים הוליד את המופע Lightnin' Hits The Rye (לאחרונה הוציאו גם דיסק בשם זה), מופע אקוסטי של קלאסיקות בלוז, רוק וסול בביצועים ייחודיים וסוחפים. לאחר כשנה של הופעות יחד, החליטו השניים להקים במקביל הרכב בלוז/רוק חשמלי וצירפו אליהם שניים מהשועלים הותיקים בסצנת הבלוז בארץ, הבסיסט רפי ידידיה (ניגן בעבר בבלאק אנד בלוז, עם דני ליטני, ואמנים נוספים) והמתופף יחיאל ברוור (הדיילי בלוז, שלמה מזרחי והשורשים, ועוד). מאוחר יותר הצטרף להרכב גם הקלידן כפיר צעירי (שהיריעה קצרה מלכתוב את רשימת האמנים איתם הוא הופיע ומופיע). מאז הקמתה חורשת הלהקה את הארץ בהופעות וכמעט אין פינה שלא הגיעה אליה - כשכיום ממוצע ההופעות החודשי עומד על כ-12-13. ההיביג'יביז לוקחים את הקהל למסע מרתק, אל שורשי הבלוז הרוק והסול, עם ביצועים בלתי נשכחים לקלאסיקות של מאדי ווטרס, בי בי קינג, קלפטון, אלביס פרסלי, האבנים המתגלגלות, פרדי קינג, אלברט קינג, קרידנס קלירוואר רבייבל ועוד רבים וטובים. במהלך השנים הופיעו ההיביג'יביז באירועים ופסטיבלים שונים (בין היתר הופיעו כמופע מרכזי בפסטיבל "סולם יעקב" במאי 2012), ולשתף פעולה עם אמני בלוז בולטים מהארץ (אפרים שמיר, אריה מוסקונה) ומהעולם (לי אוסקר, מיטץ' וודס, דלמרק גולדפרב, בריאן קובר). בעתיד הקרוב, מתכננים ההיביג'יביז להקליט אלבום נוסף – הפעם בהרכב מלא, ובהמשך להכנס לעבודה על חומרים מקוריים ובמקביל להתחיל לצאת להופעות מחוץ לגבולות המדינה, לפסטיבלי ומועדוני בלוז באירופה, ארה"ב ובכל מקום אחר בעולם. The Heeby Gee Bees, one of Israel's leading blues/rock acts, are renowned for their energetic live shows, and their fantastic interpretation and performance of many blues and rock classics. The band has gigged non stop since day one, and has gained a reputation for being one of the country's hardest working bands. The Heeby Gee Bees began their way in late 2006 as an acoustic blues duo. Guy Dagan (lead vocalist and vistuoso harmonica player) and Assaf Barak (guitar and vocals) met, like many modern couples, on the internet… Dagan (son of famous Israeli soul singer Tzila Dagan and actor Ezra Dagan), with a long career of acting and music behind him, and Barak, who has played guitar with numerous bands and artists, found a common language in the blues. The two began performing together as an acoustic duo show titled Lightnin' Hits The Rye (which recently also came out on CD), playing blues, rock and soul classics. About a year later, they decided to put together an electric band, and invited two of Israel's veteran blues cats, bassist Roughy Yedidia and drummer Yechiel Brower, to join the band. Shortly after that the band added the amazing Kfir Tzairi on keyboard. Ever since its conception, the now electric band gigged nonstop all over the country, coming to an average of 12-13 shows a month. The Heeby Gee Bees take the audience on a fascinating journey to the roots of blues, rock and soul music, with an unforgettable performance of classic song made famous by such greats as Muddy Waters, BB King, Eric Clapton, Elvis Presley, The Rolling Stones, Freddie King, Albert King, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and many others. Along the years the band has played numerous events and festivals (headlining the 2012 "Jacobs Ladder Festival", the largest folk/blues/country music festival in Israel), and playing one of the main stages of "Yaarot Menashe Festival" in 2013). They have collaborated with local and international blues artists (Lee Oscar, Mitch Woods, Delmark Goldfarb, Brian Cober, Efraim Shamir, Dafna Armoni, Aryeh Muskuna).
