About Isa Agape

A NEW MUSICAL FIRE, BURNING FROM WITHIN

You wouldn't say that Isa Agape returned to music.

The work returned. Like withdrawal.

As if she was an addict who had lived clean for years with no struggle - only to stop, suddenly noticing a familiar tremor of the fingertips. The craving back, the onslaught of an artistic desire.

This compulsion did not arise from a drug for the tongue or vein, but one for the ear.

"Recently I've been in sort of a hiatus."
She says, speaking of the last 2 1/2 years.

As if she could change her love for music any more than she could change her name.

Sometimes we forget our own right name on purpose - because the voice calling us is too magnetic, too deep, a voice heard in the curves and canals of secret dreams.

To forget is the only way to avoid the gravity of a passion that immortal hands have sewn into the lining of the heart.

"It wasn't until going to a Paramore concert that a spark lit up in me to go back to my love for music and the power of music. I realized that when things don't go as planned, the pain and disappointment of that doesn't have to put an end to your dreams."
Isa's music is a battle of faith and agony over love, purpose, loneliness and a brawling search for meaning.

The parts of your heart that Isa can't break with her lyrics she will shatter with a melodic hammer.

A disciplined professional, music is her way of life. Currently working out of a studio in her bedroom, writing with a guitar that she sold at the beginning of the hiatus (a friend bought it, with the intention to give it back when Isa was ready to return to music), she is in pursuit of a dream so important she had it tattooed on her left arm.

It is this dream that she will chase across the globe on her next tour.

"One of the places on my list to visit on the tour is the UK. This place has a huge piece of my heart. It's like this love affair... so much so that I wish I had been born there. The musical influences that have come out of the UK have attracted me for years. And every time I find a new artist I enjoy, more often than not, they are from the UK. I love this place and I want incorporate it into my being... the creativity, the culture, the underground music scene, the people and history. I even look forward to the opportunity and honor of doing projects at Abbey Road Studios. I can't wait to spend some time there this year!"
And maybe she is forgetting a thing or two. Like the prophecy Isaiah delivered to the Hebrews 'Do not remember the former events, nor consider the events of old. "See, I am doing what is new, let it now spring forth. Do you not know it? I am even making a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."'

The God of renewal speaks life, especially when He reveals the fear and wonder of our making.

That fear and wonder resonates throughout Isa's music. She is making a new thing. And it's only getting stronger.

"I've had a good break. Got to grow up a ton. Now I feel I'm in a really different place as a person, as a singer/songwriter, and, yes, I have some things that I want to share. I hope that you, who have followed me all these years, will continue being a part of this journey I'm on. My heart is to write songs that are real, honest, true, hard, messy and difficult - songs that help people be at peace, get some answers perhaps, and most importantly come in contact with love!"
