About WHYTRI
A Boston native, WHYTRI is a multi-faceted rapper, producer, dancer and business owner. With roots originally in the dance community, WHYTRI performed as a member of various dance troupes, making his way up to working with major names in the dance world like Phunk Phenomenon. Although his passion for dance came to a close due to major injury, WHYTRI was able to translate his passion for dance to his musical artistry.
In 2015, Whytri made his musical debut with the release of his single “Rust Bucket” that garnered him recognition as a unique and compelling artist within the young Boston music scene. Whytri is an energetic and eccentric artist, pulling influences from underground rap, rock, and early R&B (think Bobby Brown). As his sound has developed as an artist, he has continued to bring his eclectic artistic influences forward through hard-hitting de-industrial beats and a collection of punchy adlibs.
The release of debut EP Kahuna in 2017 brought national attention to Whytri, gaining features in major music outlets including Lyrical Lemonade and 2DopeBoyz, who, in 2018, ran a video premiere for the single “VOMITBWOY.” “Xuriwifi” featuring Providence born artist Lily Rayne, also made waves in New England, bringing Whytri further to the front of the Boston music community. He maintained momentum with his next major single release in 2018 “Guesswhoidk” receiving a nod from YesJulz on her popular online radio station “1AM Radio.”
Now, with two more projects released in 2018 and 2019--Vomitbwoy and A Bad Porno (Deluxe), respectively--Whytri has continued to gain recognition, not only as a New England music staple, but as a nationally viable artist. In 2019, Whytri joined the many high-level names to have performed in and out the state such as IDK, & Kemba as well as packing out the middle east Upstairs of 120 out of 194 cap.
